Sacred space exists where a community encounters the Divine
Presence and offers its worship to God. Liturgical art facilitates this transcendent experience, communicates Grace, and reveals God's boundless beauty.
The beauty of the place of worship and its appointments has been an expressions of the deep Faith and devotion of God's People reaching back to the days of the Exodus (Ex. 25). In the New Testament, the meaning and function of the image finds new, sacramental significance in the Incarnation.
G.R.Hoelzeman Studios is committed to creating dynamic liturgical art and environment which engages the community sacramentally at many levels. This is accomplished through a prayerful and thoughtful process of collaboration with the commissioning community.
Our goal is simple: to promote full, active, conscious participation in the Liturgy, which is the source and summit of the Christian life, that "in all things God may be glorified" (1 Peter 4:11) through liturgical consultancy, art and design.
The church is a metaphor for the Church, as St. Augustine eloquently describes in his sermon for the dedication of a church. The church building becomes authentically sacred only when it is capable of forming real people into the Body of Christ. This spiritual journey does not end, or even culminate, with the completion of construction or the dedication of the new space.
