Station IX: Jesus Falls the Third Time
The weight of sin and suffering often seems overwhelming, especially when we know there is more and potentially greater suffering ahead. But Christ offers us comfort and strength.
It is not only suffering which exhausts us, but the yearning for virtue and living it which seems to overwhelmn our capacity to continue. Christ raises us up and gives us strength to continue in the way of life.
In the hospital environment, many experience the crushing weight of sickness, loss, and fear of death. Jesus knows well these things in His humanity. In His divinity, we find courage, comfort and healing.
"Out of the depths, I cry to you, O Lord - hear the voice of my pleading."
