Since time immemorial, art and architecture have been at the center of humanity's interaction with the Divine and proclaimed the presence and activity of God. The beauty of the place of worship and its appointments are also expressions of the deep Faith and devotion of God's People. In the Judeo-Christian tradition, artists, architects and designers have given their talents to the service of God and Faith reaching back to the days of the Exodus (Ex. 25). In the New Testament, the meaning and function of the image finds new, sacramental significance in the Incarnation.
